Smart Grid is the Go Green Technology for the Future

Countries like US have an ever increasing demand for technology and hence creating more power has become an issue for these governments. However the new approach here is to produce more of green power and not conventional power. The US had faced one of the most terrible power outages in 2003 and the cause was mainly due to the outdated electrical grid. Power outages could be costly in terms of businesses generation and much more. Hence there is a need to explore other types of electricity management and smart grid looks like a good prospect.
The US Government has now started to research projects and provide funding for them by developing smart grid technologies. The smart grid technology makes use of digital technology for tow way communication between the power users and the power producers. The government will make use of super conductive power lines so that the connected computers can reroute power from places where there is excess power to places where more power is required. This way there will not be massive losses in power that the country is currently facing.

Hence the current gird will become smarter and more reliable to integrate the existing electrical capacity to micro sources and renewable energy resources. This two way communication system will discharge appliances that consume a lot of power during peak times and hence ensure that there are no blackouts. These power sucking appliances can then be run during the off peak hours so that there is no additional strain on the grid.
This new technology will encourage the consumers to save on electricity. The consumers will begin to start using power at off peak rates when it is much cheaper.

The new digital communication technology will help the producers of energy to monitor, analyze and then control the distribution of power so that the grid is not taxed unnecessarily.
In order to meet the ever growing demand for electricity, the US Government is now concentrating on developing the smart gird technology all over the country.

Smart grid technology is about harnessing the most from computing technologies as well as advanced digital system. There is also a need to address the more efficient transmission lines that pave the pave the way for small renewable energy farms and producers who produce excess power. This excess power can be plugged into the national grid so that electricity can be provided to places where it is needed the most.
