Solar panel inverters are used for storing solar energy so that electricity can be provided by them as a backup option in case of a blackout. Solar energy is entirely renewable and non polluting and in the near future more and more people will begin to use it. The solar panel inverter converts the direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC) that can be used by appliances.
It is the AC current that operates all the appliances in your house. We have 3 types of solar panel inverters today which are gird tie, off grid and battery backup inverters. You can install any one of them depending on your requirements.
The grid tie inverter, as the name suggests is used in conjunction with a utility grid. This is a good solution for people who want to cut down on their electricity costs. And you also benefit from incentives such as tax credits when you make use of grid tie inverters. Since the inverters are dependent on the power grid, they will automatically shut down in case of power outages. However there is no backup option in this kind of inverter.
The off gird inverter is like a stand alone inverter and it is completely independent of the power gird. You can make your home completely self reliant with this inverter. The inverter stores the sun’s energy into a battery which can be regulated so that overcharging does not take place.
The last type of solar panel inverter is the battery backup inverter. This inverter is a combination of the former two types. The inverter stores the sun’s energy into its batteries and then converts it into AC power that can be used by the appliances in the house. It is independent from the grid and you can even sell the excess power to the local electric company.
Hence the inverters are such that they literally pay for themselves over a period of time.
The DC current from the sun would be useless as the appliances only operate on AC current. As mentioned before, the solar panel inverter successfully converts DC into ACX current which can be used by all types of electric devices. Solar panel inverters are quite expensive to buy but you can take advantage of the various benefits provided by the government. It is a good investment as in the long run you will be getting electricity for very low costs.
