Application/Exam Requirements
Electrical Contractor: proof of workers' compensation insurance, $5,000 bond, and $50,000 liability insurance to apply for a contractor's license. 5 years experience to qualify to take the exam. 2 of the 2 years must be in commercial/industrial work. You can use up to two and one-half years of Division-approved education to fulfill the experience requirement. Journeyman: 4 years electical work experiecne to qualify to take the exam. 2 of the 4 years must be in commercial/industrial work.
