Limitations/Applicability
2 years of work experience (2,000 hours per year) as a licensed journeyman electrician. 4 years work experience plus 4 years of approved apprenticeship class room instruction to qualify for journeyman's license . 3 years experience as a journeyman to qualify for master license.
Application/Exam Requirements
Exams given once a month in Boise, Coeur D'Alene, and Pocatello. Proof of $300,000 liability insurance. If have a valid license in another state state with qualifications at least equal to Idaho's, and you have the work experience Idaho requires, you can get an Idaho license without taking an exam.
Fees
$15 application fee for contractor's license, $60 for exam, and $125 for license, which is good until July 1 of the next year. $15 application fee for journeyman or master journeyman license and $60 for either exam. $65 for master license costs $65 and $55 for journeyman license, either good until July 1 of the next year. Fees and duration for specialty licenses are the same as those for electrical contractor and journeyman respectively.
